Overview of the Position: 

Community Liaison Outreach interns should be interested in being part of a dynamic non-profit team and want to make a real impact in the future of the organization. The Community Liaison Outreach interns must possess strong research and writing skills and must be comfortable with public speaking.  Under general supervision, the intern is responsible for the coordination of various special programs that may include fundraising and a liaison between various community/business organizations and the general public. This position, in addition, is responsible for the assessment of the community needs.

 

Requirements:

  • Strong writing ability.

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) speaker preferred. 

  • Ability to speak effectively in public.

  • Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with all agencies. Coordinate special projects and events within the community.

  • Be able to work some weekends.

  • Assist in arranging meetings and recruiting speakers to educate and empower the community. 

  • Gather community data to assess program effectiveness, increase services, participation and community resources.

  • Explain program services and distributes informational material to community residents to describe what, where and when program services are available. 

  • Develop program services based on assessment of community needs and resources.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Compile data from all boroughs.

  • Gather all Community Board profiles.

  • Send linkage agreements to various organizations where the target population is located.

  • Gather information from other agencies for referral services.

  • Attend relevant meetings and network.

  • Maintain relationships with government officials, other nonprofit agencies, social services organizations, and prominent community members.

  • Develop a resource manual of mental health providers, food pantries, entitlement offices, and other social services.

  • Maintain weekly reports.

  • Any additional duties as needed
